Internet Protocols
Internet Protocols are basically sets of rules to a computer. The protocols deal with about everything on a computer that has to do with communication. There are many protocols today and each are cleverly named with acronyms that deal with different parts of the computer. With each protocol there is a better one as each year protocols are upgraded to perform better and faster. I will list some of the most common Internet protocols and what they do. Some of these protocols are used with TCP/IP, Cellular, and other “families”. MARS stands for multicast Address Resolution Server. RIP2 stands for Routing Information Protocol. COPS stands for Common Open Policy Server. TRIP stands for Telephony Routing over IP. ARM stands for Adaptive Multi-Rate Speech Codec. SMS stands for Short Message Service. FTAM stands for File Transfer Access and Management Protocol. TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. Here are some more protocols. LLC stands for Logical Link Control. RLP stands for Radio Link Protocol. BCC stands for Broadcast Call Control. TOM stands for Tunneling of Messages. These are some of the protocols; there are plenty more. Just go to the website at the bottom of the page and view the rest of the protocols.
